Every Andreas Fox Safaris trip has a significant conservation theme. Choosing genuine ecotourism destinations and supporting local communities is paramount. However, some trips are even more hands on.
We’ve helped with the darting of a lioness to receive a tracking collar, data from which assists Lion Landscapes in Laikipia. That was immediately followed by the Great Grevy’s Rally, a census of the critically endangered Zebra species, which was a triumph for citizen science.
In July 2017, we helped organize the global launch event for Musicians Against Animal Cruelty in Nairobi. All profits raised from that went to the highly successful Lion Guardians community conservation initiative. The musicians then came on safari and donated to help the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy dart a White rhino for invaluable health checks and identification ear-notching.
In September, we flew to Toronto, Canada to support our great friends at The Nile | Culture with their M|L|Ma event, all proceeds of which went to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy’s rhino conservation work. ‘The Nile’ continues to build on the project and are selling bespoke art work, coffee table books and handmade candles in Lewa’s benefit. The Nile also offers unique travel opportunities and Andreas Fox Safaris is a proud partner and African safari outfitter.
Virtually every group that has come to Kenya engages on some level with the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Their pioneering orphaned elephant rehabilitation program is a huge success and guests get to support and see the project first hand, be it with the nursery herds in Nairobi or in the wilds of Tsavo.
As part of The Original Ker & Downey Safaris, all AFS trips support the work of the Kenya Wildlife Trust, which was set up by K&D guides nearly a decade ago to help support projects across Kenya that address critical conservation needs.
